Government funding and commercial partnership to pilot Queens Carbon’s low temperature technology that aims to lower carbon emissions of the cement industry

PINE BROOK--(BUSINESS WIRE)—Queens Carbon, a startup company developing a ground breaking technology to eliminate CO2 emissions from the cement industry, today announced that the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) has selected the company to receive $14.5M in funding as part of its Seeding Critical Advances for Leading Energy technologies with Untapped Potential (SCALEUP) program. Queens Carbon will use this funding to pilot its novel low temperature, zero CO2 technology in partnership with a commercial partner in the cement industry.

Queens Carbon recently presented at Demo Day in Bangkok, Thailand, after being selected for the GCCA Innovandi Open Challenge. This prestigious program aims to foster partnerships between cement manufacturers and innovative tech startups to reduce the carbon footprint of concrete. Queens Carbon, known for its sustainable carbon capture and utilization technologies, formed a consortium as part of this initiative including  Cementos Argos, Cemex, CRH, Heidelberg Materials, Holcim, TITAN Cement Group, and UltraTech Cement. CEO Daniel Kopp delivered a compelling pitch, showcasing their cutting-edge solutions.

Queens Carbon wins Best Venture at the 2024 NREL Industry Growth Forum

Queens Carbon has been awarded the top honor of Best Venture at the 2024 NREL Industry Growth Forum. This prestigious recognition came after a competitive pitch by CEO Daniel Kopp. Out of 40 presenters, Queens Carbon stood out for its innovative low-CO₂ manufacturing technology for cementitious materials. The forum’s awards were based on six criteria: product/solution, market opportunity and strategy, business model, team, growth plans in the next 12 months, investment potential, and overall presentation. Winners receive 40 hours of technical assistance through the NREL Technical Assistance Program.
